STEP ONE

A CLR surveyor will visit property to guide you through your ideas and designs, they will check at this stage that it is possible for you to have a loft conversion at your property. You will be given the opportunity to ask lots of questions and they will provide you with their professional advice. You will then receive a written quote in a quote pack.

STEP TWO

Once the work has been given the go ahead, we will organise a date which works for you and a contract is drawn up for you to sign. We will provide you with a schedule of works which will outline what the job will consist off as well as detail everything that we have allowed for in our quote. We will also provide you with a payment plan which is to be followed as the job progresses.

We will arrange for our architect to visit the property for a full measured survey. A detailed drawing is produced to meet your needs and put your ideas to paper. Once you’re 100% happy, the plans get confirmed and submitted to the local authority for approval, most loft conversions are able to be submitted as permitted development which will mean they don’t need to go through planning. The plans are also sent to our structural engineer and they will provide us with the necessary structural calculations for any steels and timber required.

STEP THREE

Nearer to your start date, we will be in contact to confirm an exact date for the team to start.

In advance we will arrange for the scaffolding to be erected and we will also submit the application for building control which we will completely manage on your behalf.

To ensure that regulations are being followed correctly, Building Control will make a total of 3 visits whilst the work is being undertaken.

  • Loft structure

  • Insulation

  • Completion

STEP FOUR

On the start date of the project our friendly workmen will arrive at 8am and the same staff will work on your home until completion.

Our team are all used to working inside homes and understand the importance of being tidy and taking good care when inside a customer’s home as well as being careful to create minimal disruption whilst working as we do not want to disturb you in your home allowing you to carry on with daily life as normal. Your carpets will always be protected from dust.

STEP FIVE

The work always starts with the structure of building; your new loft is boarded and structural steels manufactured and installed as a starting point.

Next it’s the timber works, joisting and structural carcassing, first fix, plumbing and electrics.

STEP SIX

Now it’s time to fit the staircase which means you can now come up and see your new space. Plaster boarding and plastering the walls and ceilings are completed and things like shelves and storage spaces can be added to make the most of your loft.

STEP SEVEN

Second fix; things like skirtings, architraves, handrails, bathroom suite, sockets, lights etc.

STEP EIGHT

At this point we can comb out those finer details to make sure you are completely happy. You will be walked around the loft to ensure you’re 100% happy. At this point you can confirm that the job is finished or you can request any final tweaks.

The team will tidy up the finished loft and any other areas that they have been using, any excess materials will be cleared and the scaffolding will be taken down.

As soon as we’ve received the final Building Certificate and Electrical Certificate (and anything else that may be applicable to your job) we will send it across to you.

STEP NINE

Now the job has been completed and you’ve got yourself a smart new addition to your home. The only way is up!

A loft conversion typically takes 6-12 weeks depending on the size and type.
