STEP ONE

A CLR carpenter will visit your property to guide you through your ideas and designs. At this stage you will have the opportunity to ask lots of questions and they will provide you with their professional advice. You will then receive a pack containing a written quote, a rough design idea, a payment plan to give you an idea of how the payments are divided and a detailed schedule of works.

STEP TWO

Once the work has been given the go ahead, we will arrange for our architect to visit the property for a full measured survey. A detailed drawing with structural calculations is produced to meet your needs and put your ideas to paper. Once you’re 100% happy, the plans get confirmed and submitted to the local authority for approval. Most plans are approved within 2-3 weeks.

STEP THREE

Plans have been approved and a contract is drawn up for you to sign. A loft conversion can take between 6-12 weeks depending on the size and type.

STEP FOUR

We’ll give you a call at least 2 weeks before the work is due to commence with a specific start date.

The scaffolding is erected in advance. On the start date of the project our friendly workmen will arrive at 8am and the same staff will work on your home until completion.

Our team are all used to working inside homes and understand the importance of being tidy and taking good care when inside a customer’s home as well as being careful to create minimal disruption whilst working as we do not want to disturb you in your home allowing you to carry on with daily life as normal.

STEP FIVE

The work always starts with the structure of building; your new loft is boarded and structural steels manufactured and installed as a starting point.

Next it’s the timber works, joisting and structural carcassing, first fix, plumbing and electrics.

STEP SIX

Then it's time to fit the staircase which means you can now come up and see your new space. Plaster boarding and plastering the walls and ceilings are completed and things like shelves and storage spaces can be added to make the most of your loft.

STEP SEVEN

Second fix; things like handrails, skirtings & architraves, and electrics; sockets, lights etc. If you're having a bathroom or en-suite it will be fitted at this point.

STEP EIGHT

At this point we can comb out those finer details to make sure that the loft meets all your requirements. We will walk you around the loft to ensure you’re completely happy. At this point you can confirm that the job is finished or you can request any final tweaks.

The team will tidy up the finished loft and any other areas that they have been using, any excess materials will be cleared and the scaffolding will be taken down.

As soon as we receive everything, we send you the final Building Certificate, Electrical Part P and any guarantees for windows etc.

To ensure that regulations are being followed correctly, Building Control would have made a total of 3 visits whilst the work was being undertaken:

  • Loft structure

  • Insulation

  • Completion

STEP NINE

Now the job has been completed and you’ve got yourself a smart new addition to your home. The only way is up!
